Camera Shy

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: July 26, 2026

Agreement to these terms

By creating an account or starting a session on Camera Shy, you agree to these terms. Camera Shy is operated by Monument Labs LLC, a Virginia limited liability company ("Monument Labs", "we", "us"). If you don't agree with any part of these terms, don't use the service.

What the service does

Camera Shy is a conversational recording tool. An AI voice partner interviews you while your camera and microphone record, and the recording is transcribed, split into beats, and cut into clips you can review, caption, and export.

The interview, the direction, and the segmentation run on third-party AI models reached through the Vercel AI Gateway. AI output is imperfect — it can mishear you, cut in the wrong place, or caption you incorrectly. Review anything before you publish it.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use Camera Shy. The service is not directed at children and is not for anyone under 13.

Your account

Accounts are created with an email address and a password, handled by our authentication provider. You confirm your email before you can sign in. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for everything done under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has access to it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Record anyone without the consent the law in your jurisdiction requires. You are responsible for the consent of everyone who appears or is audible in a recording.
  • Upload or record material that is unlawful, infringing, harassing, or that you don't have the rights to.
  • Impersonate another person, or present a Camera Shy clip as a statement by someone it isn't.
  • Attempt to reach another user's recordings, transcripts, clips, or account.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or deliberately overload the service.

Your content and who owns it

You keep ownership of everything you bring or make: your recordings, transcripts, briefs, beats, clips, and context files. Nothing in these terms transfers that to us.

You grant Monument Labs a limited, non-exclusive license to store, transmit, and process your content strictly to operate the features you invoke — recording, transcription, direction, segmentation, and export. We do not use your content to train AI models, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with other users. The details of where it goes are in the privacy policy.

Camera Shy itself — the software, the interface, and the brand — stays ours.

No warranty

Camera Shy is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, that transcription or segmentation will be accurate, or that recordings will be free of defects.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Monument Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost recordings, lost data, or reputational harm arising from your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to Camera Shy is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).

Availability and changes to the service

Camera Shy is early software. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We do not currently offer a service level commitment or a backup guarantee — export and keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.

Termination

You can stop using Camera Shy at any time. There is no self-serve account deletion in the app today; email us and we will delete your account and its content by hand. See the privacy policy for exactly what deletion covers.

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, or that we reasonably believe puts other people or the service at risk.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and we will give notice in the app or by email if a change materially affects you. Continuing to use Camera Shy after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Richmond, Virginia, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
